BAE Systems of York awarded millions in contracts from U.S. Army for armored vehicles

The Defense Department announced Wednesday that BAE Systems Land & Armaments LP in York has been awarded a contract for Bradley M2A4 and M7A4 vehicles
Sourcing legacy vehicles, the company will produce M2A4 and M7A4 vehicles by an estimated completion date of Jan. 31, 2026 for $288 million with work locations to be determined, according to the announcement. Army Contracting Command, Detroit Arsenal, Michigan, is the contractor.
What these vehicles do
The M2A4 is designed to carry and support dismounted troops in combat. The M7A4 carries sensor and sighting systems designed to relay targeting information to support artillery fire.
Earlier this month, BAE Systems Platforms & Services segment received a $797 million contract to continue production of the Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) for the Army. That award brought the AMPV program into full production, making it the first newly designed and built tracked vehicle in the U.S. Army’s fleet to reach this production stage in three decades.
The AMPV program is one of the U.S. Army’s top vehicle modernization programs. The Army first awarded BAE Systems the AMPV contract in 2014 and signed a low-rate initial production contract in 2018. The first LRIP vehicle was delivered in August 2020.
